Paid Tribute to Bhagwan Birsa Munda and Visited University Hostel

Bhopal : Tuesday, November 11, 2025: Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel visited Bhagwan Birsa Munda Tribal University located in Rajpipla, Narmada district of Gujarat on Tuesday. He paid floral tribute to Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s statue situated in the university campus and bowed in reverence. On this occasion, local MLA Dr. Darshana Ben Vasava was also present.

Governor Shri Patel said that the Birsa Munda University represents Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision for the preservation and promotion of tribal culture. During his visit, the Governor inspected the university hostel and reviewed accommodation facilities for students. He also discussed the university’s structure and future development plans with the management.

As part of the ‘Ek Ped – Maa Ke Naam” campaign, Governor Shri Patel planted a sapling in the university campus. He was accorded a traditional welcome upon his arrival.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Madhukar Padvi briefed the Governor that the university is dedicated to the preservation, promotion, and development of tribal arts, heritage, culture, medicinal systems, language, and literature. He said the university aims to ensure that tribal traditions and knowledge systems contribute meaningfully to the broader social renaissance through education.

Dr. Padvi informed that the university plans to start academic programs from undergraduate to postgraduate, vocational, and Ph.D. levels in disciplines such as humanities, commerce, science, law, education, tribal traditional arts, crafts, and skill-based studies.

Established in 2017, the Birsa Munda Tribal University seeks to develop transformative and innovative educational and research programs, particularly focusing on the tribal population of Gujarat and other developing regions. The university aims to accelerate the development of tribal areas by providing educational opportunities in technology, skill-based learning, vocational and management studies, tourism, tribal art and culture, traditional value systems, and related fields.

The university also offers teaching and research facilities for the advancement of knowledge and technology related to tribal art, culture, traditions, language, medicinal practices, customs, forest-based.
